Biography 

Imani Munford is an EdM candidate in Dance Education at the Graduate School of Education (GSE), Rutgers University. She is pursuing a Special Education Endorsement along with her Teacher Certification for Dance K-12. While attending the GSE, Imani completed her full-time student teaching at Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ. Prior to her time at Columbia High School, she observed and taught at Elizabeth Avenue School in Somerset, NJ. While attending the GSE, Imani was awarded the Danceworks Scholarship and Graduate School of Education Academic Excellence Scholarship.

She received her B.A. degree in Dance with a minor in Education in May 2018 through Rutgers University. While attending Rutgers for her undergraduate degree she was inducted into the National Honor Society for Dance Arts and graduated with honors. She had the pleasure of working with Randy James, Camille Moten and Doug Elkins while attending Rutgers to foster her performance and choreographic talents. Also, while at Rutgers she obtained her Vinyasa 200-HR Yoga certification in July 2017 under the direction of Taryn Vander Hoop and Blair Ritchie. Prior to attending Rutgers, she attended Academy for Performing Arts in Scotch Plains, NJ, where she had the pleasure of working with Kathleen Flynn Gavin, Michelle Perosi, Dawud Jackson and Carolyn Dorfman.

Imani Munford is a New Jersey native, originally residing in East Orange and now living in Vauxhall, NJ. She is a product of the charter, public and vocational school systems. She currently teaches dance at the Dance Academy of the Westfield Area YMCA. She specializes in teaching yoga, ballet, tap, modern, and creative movement to ages from 3-14.
